Eisenstein starfield in C
A complete program. Standard C, a compiler, and the rule behind the shape.

FROM SOURCE TO SHAPE
Run it in three steps.
- Save the source.
Download eisenstein-prime-field.c into a folder on your computer.
- Compile it.
In that folder, run this with GCC or Clang:
cc -std=c11 -O2 eisenstein-prime-field.c -lm -o eisenstein-prime-field - Make the image.
./eisenstein-prime-fieldOpen
eisenstein-prime-field.svgin a browser to see the result.
On Windows with GCC, name the executable eisenstein-prime-field.exe and run it from the same folder.
THE RULE IN THE PROGRAM
How the picture is built
Plot prime elements a+b*omega on their triangular lattice inside a norm disk, including associates of inert rational primes.
Make it your own
radius=40
The prime-norm criterion alone misses rational primes congruent to 2 modulo 3 and their six associates; the code includes them. Each run produces one image; use Graphic mode for the interactive animation.

* Optional output path: ./eisenstein-prime-field my-image.svg
